We rescue event flowers to
uplift others,
foster sustainability, and
inspire kindness
in our Lake Tahoe community.
Each year, thousands of event florals are discarded as soon as an event ends. We are here to help rescue these flowers from the landfill and provide them to non-profits, hospitals, senior centers, and community-based organizations to bring comfort, joy, and healing to our local community members.
From hospital patients and nursing home residents to shelters, educators, youth and community events, we spread kindness one petal at a time.
Through our efforts, we not only brighten lives but also reduce floral waste, diverting it from landfills and into sustainable green waste streams.
“An estimated 40 - 100 lbs of floral waste is thrown away after most 100+ person weddings or events. We aim to collect at least 100 floral donations for the 2024 season and divert 5,000 lbs of floral from the landfill into compostable waste streams!”
“Studies show the flowers have a significant impact on mental health, emotional well-being, lower anxiety and stress, and deeper interpersonal connections.”
HOW IT WORKS
1. It starts with scheduling a flower donation.
2. Our Coordinator will schedule a runner to pick up the florals
3. A Runner picks up the florals from an event and drops them off at our donation location.
4. Kindness Volunteers transform florals into new bouquets to serve our community and compost the green waste.
